Engineering Services Exam
ESE/IES [Engineering Services Exam / Indian Engineering Service] a combined competitive exam for Engineering Services conducted by UPSC [ संघ लोक सेवा आयोग / UNION PUBLIC SERVICE COMMISSION ] for recruitment to the services or posts of Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering.
The exam is conducted for the selection of engineers for the Government of India’s engineering organizations, such as:
- The Indian Railway Service of Engineers (IRSE)
- Central Engineering Service (CES)
- Military Engineering Services (MES), and others.

Eligibility Criteria
Age Eligibility: You need to be between 21 years to 30 years as on 1st January of the exam year. Age relaxations exist as per the government rules.
Academic Qualification Eligibility: You must be a graduate in Engineering from a recognized university. Final year students can also appear in ESE exam.

There is a penalty (Negative Marking) for wrong answers in the Objective Type Question Papers.
Only those candidates qualifying at Stage I are permitted to appear for the Stage-II examination. Similarly, only those Candidates qualifying at Stage-I + Stage-II are permitted to appear for Stage-III examination.

Recruitment on the results of this examination are made to the Services or Post(s) under the following categories:

Admit Card
The eligible candidates are issued an e-Admission Certificate three weeks before the commencement of the examination. No Admission Certificate is sent by post. You are requested to provide valid and active email id while filling up online application form as the Commission may use electronic mode for contacting you.
